Olivia's House is the dream of Leslie Delp, MA,
a counseling psychologist who specializes in grief therapy. Since 1996, Leslie has partnered with J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc. and the York Cancer Center to bring a children's grief education and support program called "Hearts Can Heal" to York County families. Because of their experience with the Hearts Can Heal program and after conducting a county-wide needs assessment with area mental health professionals, Leslie and her team of caregivers concluded that York County needed a center where grieving young people and their families can find support, validation, education, and acceptance. In October 2002, Leslie's dream of having a physical site for Olivia's House became a reality. Olivia's House is now located in spacious Victorian house at 830 South George Street in York City.

Olivia's House is the first grief and loss center for children in York County. As such, we are dedicated to becoming the region's primary resource for children's grief education and creating a safe place where young people and their families find support and share experiences while learning to cope with death. It is our goal to create an atmosphere of warmth and security for the grieving children of York County — a place were young people will be welcomed and nurtured.

Who We Serve:
Olivia’s House offers no cost services for children and young adults whose family member, close friend, or even pet has died. Families may call for support and services prior to, during and after the death.
